Can't help but say, Thomas Merton despite his commitment to non-violence would have admired your analysis of the corruption of language and along with it thought. It permeates everything today.

It must be said that “middle brows at middle-brow publications” are still the center of gravity. Anne Applebaum has infinitely more influence than Noam Chomsky. And the pro-Ukrainian esprit of the early days always had a cynical undertone; I can’t be persuaded that the Washington or London establishment ever gave a solitary damn about Ukrainian civilians if the prospect of bogging Russia down in a costly war was on the table. One can be forthright about this without adopting the monstrous perspective of the Max Blumenthals of the world
